#eoff is the official chat room of Eyes on Final Fantasy. It's currently an IRC channel on irc.eyesonff.com.

#eoff was started by Scottie sometime in mid-2000. By early 2001, it was a thriving room. Originally, it was set up on EoFF's own IRC server, operated by Scottie at irc.eyesonff.net. However, in May of 2001, #eoff was moved to BeyondIRC because of server issues. After two months, the room was again moved to a new network named FFChat, which was also used by FFLegend and FFOnline for their chat rooms, amongst other FF-related websites. At the end of August 2005, it moved to a new EoFF-owned server, at irc.eyesonff.com, along with several other channels that were also previously on FFChat.

As of March 2005, #eoff is the most active channel on FFChat by number of users (with measurements based on other metrics being less readily available), though this particular title switches hands often. Even so, while the channel has grown in numbers, the actual activity has dropped off somewhat from its peak. Loony BoB is doing everything he can to increase chat room awareness, which has resulted in an increase in activity in recent months, with active conversation being available for many hours of the day, though there is extreme variation from day-to-day. Update: As of period May-June 2005, #eoff has never been more active. Clearly BoB succeeded.

One of the most confusing thing for new visitors to the channel is the varying topics that are discussed. Many new members expect discussion on Final Fantasy or other gaming topics. While these topics do crop up every now and then, by and large, the discussion is unrelated. Some other topics that one may encounter in the channel are politics, world events, sports, discussion of the forums and related events, and just general trivia.
