A History by: Raistlin
The Highwind EzBoard was made by Final Fantasy: Worlds Apart veteran, Cid Highwind on December 5, 1999 as one of many Final Fantasy-related EzBoards. In order to get new members, Cid advertised his new board in a thread at FFWA, resulting in a surge of registrants. Some of the more well-known members who came as a result of this advertisement (registered Dec.5-6) were: Big Ogre Umaro, Rydia's Secret Lover, Rydia, TifaL, and Raistlin; all of whom became a part of the original moderating team. The Highwind received 15 new members in the first 24 hours of its existence and it has since continued to grow.
That winter, right before vacation, Cid noticed the fact that many people would be gone, including himself. This meaning that some of the forums would be unmoderated. Not wanting the forums overrun, he promoted all of the moderators to super-moderators(all-forum moderators) and coined the term “Cid's Knights.” He also later gave Dr Unne a temporary adminship which turned out rather permanent.
After a few months, a co-owner came into the midst: Quigoni. Quigoni and Cid combined their ideas for a FF-related message board using Cid's EzBoard. Quigoni made up the name Eyes on Final Fantasy and The Highwind was renamed. Soon after, she became the second new admin to the staff. However, Quigoni and Cid could not come to terms with their difference of opinions as to how the board should be run. They parted ways, with Cid keeping the name of Eyes on Final Fantasy.
EoFF quickly became the fastest-growing FF-related EzBoard on the 'net. Sometime in the spring of 2000, EoFF surpassed Final Fantasy: In Depth as the largest FF-related EzBoard as well.
Sometime afterwards, Cid began working on a website for EoFF, which was put on a free host. Shortly after that, Cid bought a UBB license for EoFF. An era had ended.
