Owen Macwere

Owen Macwere (or Owie/Macwerewolf as he was known to his friends) was a graphic designer/sig maker on this forum from 04-18-2006 until 06-28-2007. He was very talented and quickly made many friends on the forum…until the 07-01-2007, 19:54:28 when Polaris (Owen's girlfriend whom he loved very much) made the sad announcement that he had passed away from Lung cancer whilst having an operation, at the tender age of 20 years old. He was a great man and will be greatly missed by everyone here at EOFF especially the graphic design forum. Our thoughts will go with Owen and we all hope he has gone to a better place and is happy and without pain. It is said in history that its always the good people that go never the bad and there was no-one greater than Owen, he would help anyone without hesitation. Many fledgling sig makers were inspired by his creativity and talent (including myself) and its these people that hopefully can propagate his legacy and his memory forever.

Owen was a dear member to many members of the forum. Eventually the idea was suggested that as a tribute to a great sig maker we all make sigs for him. That thread can be found here.

Good-bye Owen, many people will miss you, and some will not have the chance to meet you, but your memory is ever-lasting and shall be kept in the minds of EoFF members forever. You were a great signature-maker, maybe even the best. May God rest your soul.

Our paths crossed in past time, Though i did not know you then, when i saw your talented works around, i allways admired them.

Though friendship we never officaily had, and most of us feel the same, we hate the fact we never knew you, a friendship left to claim.

Dear Ali, though I preferred to call you Owen (as you obviously know). I have always wondered what it would be like to lose a friend on the Internet. Would I be really upset, as if one of real life friends had died. I thought I would be shocked, rather than really hurt. I thought that I'd want to be sad, but just couldn't. But, when I read the EOFF thread on the net, my eyes watered, and I actually found myself crying. A minute later I sat up, and read all the posts that people had made. People genuinely like you, they admire you because you are such a nice guy. You have made hundreds of signatures and avatars for other people, simply out of the kindmess of your heart. You made virtually ever signature and avatar I used on a forum. I would constantly ask you for a new one, almost monthly, and you would make one in no more than a day. Last week, I asked you to make me one, and you said yes, even though you were obviously going through some Dramas. You never got it finished, but thanks for trying.

You would read my short stories as soon as I completed them, and offer posotive feedback, and tell me how I inspired you. I remember one occasion, you even quoted one part of my story, and told me that it was that line alone that kept you on EOFF.

You said that many people were picking on you at EOFF, because you used the same old techniques for signatures (fck them) and that you thought you might leave. But then you read that line, and though it was corny, you said that you would stay on EOFF. That really made my day mate, though I never told you.

You would stand by, waiting for my stories, every MSN conversation we had would always had you saying “any progress on your story?” and I would tell you “nah haven't gotten around to it”. I finally finished my story, not 3 days ago, but I think I was too late. I know you would of liked it. In one of my other stories, I tributed you as the main character “Owen” because you were such a loyal friend and fan of my stories. Now that your gone, I wish I had saved that story for this moment, but actually…no…tributing you before was better, because you got to see how much I appreciate you.

I used to show all my friends and family your work, and I will even today. I will never forget you, and I have marked the day that you sadly passed away. I wont forget our friendship, and how much you helped me in making signatures, even though I sucked. You inspired me to make them, and taught me everything I knew. After returning to EOFF as “Swan”, after being banned injustly (you always agreed it was injust, and even asked the EOFF staff to have be back) I told you that I had returned via PM, and asked you for a signature and avatar. you responded..

'I knew it's you when I saw your name. Who'd use Swan but you! Ok, send away but try to send it before wednesday so I can make it before wednesday too. Good luck!'

Very typical of your character, always enthusiastic and keen to lend a hand. When I sent the images, and asked you to make them in a particular way. You said..

Me and mom went to get your grades today and they were so high. The teacher has asked about you and wanted to congrate you but well, he obviously couldn't.

I wish that now you can see all the beautiful words your friends at EOFF have said about you and how much they loved and cared about you. You were a perfect guy and a kind and loving brother. I'll never forget how much you loved me and protected me. I'll keep my promise to you and be the girl you've always worked on making me. I love you brother just as much as everyone in this world do.

Your work will always be on this forum which was like a second home to you if not your first. I know if you were here to see all those people are doing in your remembrance you'd have tears in your eyes. But the thing is that they took the tears from my eyes and brought me a smile. You always told me EOFF worth going to and I always told you it's just a forum on the net but you used to answer “It's net, that's right but even in the smallest things we can always find a smiple joy and love, that's what EOFF gave me” You were great, and we all will keep you in our hearts.
